As the topic reads “Count your blessings”. Let us TRY to count our blessings.
Have we ever tried to count our blessings? It might seem impossible because we are all lost in our own world of spending time, thinking of what we don’t have and go on murmuring about that particular thing or trying to achieve what we don’t have. We don’t find time to think or be grateful to our existing blessings in our lives. Isn’t it? But do you all know something? Not thanking for the blessings might be dangerous. I believe everyone might be knowing this familiar hymn “Count your blessings name them one by one, count your blessings see what God hath done”… A wonderful hymn, which we used to sing when we were in the Church. We have food stored in the refrigerator, are we thankful? We have a place to sleep, are we thankful? We have money in our wallet or purse, are we thankful? We woke up this morning with good health, some of them won’t make it, this day, but are we thankful? Some of our beloved brothers and sisters around the world are not able to attend a church service, because there is no freedom to go or attend the church, but we are able to carry our Bibles and go to church well dressed up, no fear or any kind of torture, are we thankful?
My dear friends, these are few thoughts which God the Holy Spirit gave me, but if each one of us looks into ourselves we’ll find many things to be thankful for. Why are we so ungrateful and unhappy with life? Why are we not able to count our blessings and be happy for what we have? We read in psalms 105:2 ” Praise the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits “.
When we meditate from the scriptures, we see a character who always had praise in his mouth. David!!! Yes, we all know that he was a man of praise. We have read that even in the darkest moments of his life, he looks back to all the goodness he had in his life. In Luke 17, we read about 10 lepers who were healed. And we know how many returned back to thank God. Now some of you might be thinking, my topic is to count our blessings and I have penned on being thankful.
My dear friends, they are very much connected. Only if we could count our blessings, we’ll be able to thank Him for our blessings. They both go together. And when we think about the material and physical blessings, we forget our spiritual blessings. And whatever we have today, is because of Him. Him alone!!!
My dear friends in Christ,
Whenever we feel down and feel life is meaningless or any sort of negativity that hits our minds. Let’s hit back with thoughts of gratitude for whatever we have in our lives. And above all, we have our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be thankful for. The one who redeemed us from ETERNAL DEATH!!! Aren’t we the lucky ones? And do we still find it hard to count our blessings???
May God help us to count our blessings this morning and be grateful to Him, and thank Him for all that He has done in our lives.
May God’s name be glorified forever! Amen!!!
