The Race of Faith!

Giving up is easy but to fight till the end will lead to victory. You might be thinking why am writing on giving up, victory…etc.

Nothing dear ones, recently I got to see a video of a sportsman named Derek Redmond, maybe some of you might know him maybe some of you not. He participated in the Olympic 400 meter race. After about 150 meters, he got to have a torn hamstring. Now I will explain what is a hamstring. Hamstrings are a collection of 3 muscles located in the back of the thigh, used for bending and flexing our knees.

And these muscles help us to walk, run and jump. This muscle was torn for Derek the athlete. He broke down into tears, right there. One was the pain, and the other was that his years of practice has come for nothing. Obviously he will break down. So are we!

But you know what happened? He was not willing to give up the race. And with tears, he hoped to finish the race, in between we see his father entering breaking the security to encourage his son. Though his dad asked him to give up, he didn’t take his opinion, but then said: ” I want to do it”. And his father said, ” ok, we’ll do it together “. And so, Derek Redmond completed the 400-meter race along with his dad. Grand applause from people around 65000, who stood up for Derek in full honor. It’s true, he didn’t win a prize but then he completed his race.

So my dear friends in Christ, even in spiritual life we tend to give up our race in this world. Sometimes heartaches, overwhelm us to break down. The pressure around us will pull us back. But just like Derek’s father, we all have a Father in heaven who comes to us and help us to finish the spiritual race which we began. It can be any kind of ministry, that each one of us is asked to do.

But remember our ALMIGHTY God, our one and only Lord Jesus Christ is with us to help us to complete the race. Amen!!!

Our spiritual ancestors like Abraham and Noah, who answered God’s call and set out on the race set before them. Their example gives us encouragement. Hebrews 11 shows us a list of people who completed their race. Let’s run the race that is set before us. Amen!
