All of us face various challenges and difficulties in our life. For God’s children, this world is never favorable. We go through a lot of struggles. I don’t think there are any God’s children whose life is always easy and happy. God itself in his word says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. But what keeps us going in this world is his everlasting love and His Grace. I myself cannot even imagine living in this world for a second without my Lord.
The moment we think we can live without our God will be the greatest fall in our life.
We all believe that God cares for us right? But how much does he cares for us? Do his care and provision depend on the seriousness of the situation or the emergency of our needs? No, he cares for us means that He completely cares for us. It doesn’t matter what your needs or situation is. It doesn’t matter our worries are small or big. God cares about the little things in our life. Our small worries, needs, situations mean everything to him. In Peter 5:7, it says, “Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you”. We have to give all our worries to our Lord. He promised to carry our burdens, we just have to cast them to our Lord. Dear ones, it is not easy especially when we go through some hard times and we don’t see a light for the situation or we don’t see a solution to our worries. We might often think whether God is seeing us go through this. But dear ones, our Lord is being silent but surely He is watching us. I wanted to add this poem written by Annie Johnson Flint (1866-1932) which touched me.
“He giveth more grace
As our burdens grow greater
He sendeth more strength as
Our labor’s increase
To added afflictions, He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, He multiplies peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the say is half- done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again”.
In 2 King 6:15, we see the young servant of Elisha. He woke up early in the morning and saw that the Syrian army had surrounded the city. The servant got scared and he cried out to Elisha “Alas, my master! How shall we do? “After Elisha prayed, Lord opened the eyes of the servant and he saw the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. The Lord’s army was there to protect them. We too are like Elisha’s young servant. We like to have some kind of reassurance that our Lord is with us and He is watching over us. As God’s children, we have to have blind faith in our Lord. We may not understand or see how things are going to work out for us but, our Lord is working behind the scenes.
Especially during the pandemic times, we see a lot of uncertainties. But we worry about the pandemic and being anxious about it will take us nowhere. Can we add or subtract to any of our worries? But when we leave everything in God’s hands, we feel the peace and joy in our life. Even though the situation is worse, but still we will be in peace. This is what our Lord offers. Nothing in this world can reassure us and provide the peace and joy that our Lord gives us. We are seeing this from what is happening in this world with this pandemic. The world has a lot of resources, technology, science, and many intelligent people. But this world has changed from where it was. Powerful things of this world got stuck. This is where one has to realize that behind everything there is a powerful mighty hand of our Lord, The King of Kings. He is the mighty one. In him only is salvation and life. Nothing in this world can be compared to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. His love tastes like honey in the rock.
“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good…..for He tastes like honey in the rock”.
Our God will make a way when there seems to be no way. He will open doors for us that no one can close. He will provide us more than what we need. He is our redeemer and our Father. When we see that enemies surround us, but, the Lord’s army is already present protecting us from all the harm and dangers. God’s promises revive us and comfort us in all our troubles. Let’s be thankful to our Lord for all that he is doing in our life. Psalms 147: 7-8 “Sing out your thanks to the Lord… He makes the grass grow in the mountain pastures”.
